Simple Politics is the answer to a widespread problem with how we as Americans look at politics. The original concept, research, branding, and site were developed by myself, Kat Fenton. Below is a more in depth look into my capstone and if you’d like, download a copy of my process book.
We’ve all experienced the angry facebook fights, the people who say to dramatically tell others not to talk to them if they support a different party, the politicicians screaming about fake news. Discussion about politics is often wrought with frustration and anger. Sites that aim to solve this problem are often overloaded with information and have confusing interfaces. Local elections are majorly influenced by individual votes. However, they are extremely difficult to find information on and not publicized by the media. Many political candidates on the local level, don’t have any form of social media or even pictures online.
It’s time we have a space that lays out all the facts in a simple and easy to navigate way. That’s where my capstone comes in. Simple Politics aims to close that gap. There’s only 1 core value: simple. I used a variety of techniques to achieve this goal including simplifying text, normalizing political photography, and using a non divisive color pallete.
